CHILD THERAPY

Therapy for kids is all about the joy of play! We harness the power of play therapy to empower children express themselves, tackle tough emotions, and discover creative solutions to their challenges.

Child Therapy can be very effective for children, particularly when therapeutic rapport is built between the therapist and child. Talking can often leave children at a disadvantage when it comes to expressing thoughts and feelings because developmentally, verbal communication is not yet their primary form of communication.

This is where therapy for kids uses the intervention of play therapy to create a safe space for children cope with difficult emotions, find solutions to problems, and to gain reparative experiences. Play therapy is a structured, evidenced based approach to therapy that builds on the developmentally appropriate communicative and learning processes of children.

Therapy through play best matches a child's developmental level and allows for the discharge of distressing feelings and traumatic experiences, safe expression of their inner world, development of respect and acceptance of self, and social skill development. Through the unique play therapy relationship, a child will increase their self-efficacy as they discover their own strengths and find alleviation from distressing thoughts and feelings. When children feel better about themselves, they will behave in more self-enhancing ways.
