What is online therapy, virtual counseling, online counseling, or teletherapy?
Online therapy is the online delivery of mental health therapy services using high resolution, HIPAA compliant, live video conferencing. Online therapy, also known as virtual therapy, virtual counseling, e-therapy and teletherapy, is delivered through an online platform on your computer, smart phone, or tablet.
What can I expect in an online therapy session?
Online therapy sessions work the same way face-to-face therapy sessions work. Each online therapy session is 50-60 minutes and can be done from the comfort and safety of your own home. All you need is a reliable internet connection, a connecting device (computer, tablet, or smart phone), and a quiet, comfortable place to connect with your therapist. Research suggests that online therapy sessions are as effective as traditional face-to-face in-office sessions.

Does my insurance cover online therapy sessions?
Most insurance plans cover online therapy sessions just as they would an in-office, in-person session, but we always recommend confirming with your insurance provider first. Insight MGH accepts these insurance plans for mental health services and these insurance plans for medication management services.

I'm not in Seattle, but live in Washington state. Do I qualify for online therapy with Insight MHG?
Yes! We see people virtually within the state of Washington. Our therapists, counselors & psychologists are licensed in the state of Washington, and can provide online therapy services anywhere in the state. The same is true for our medication management & nutrition team of nurse practitioners & certified nutritionists. They will have sessions with you via telehealth therapy telemedicine, and prescribe safe and effective medication management treatment plans, as needed.
